Basis: Either Part time - 18 hours per week (2.5 days or flexi) for 12 months OR 37 hours per week for 6 months
Salary: £24,230 - £33,024 per annum - career grade Band 5/6 (pro rata)
You will be responsible for the assessment of the Councils tree stock, prioritising and managing the removal and replanting of trees affected by ash dieback disease.
You will follow NFDC’s ash dieback action plan, Tree Strategy, and national guidance to implement a programme to survey and carry out works to mitigate risk with regard to ash dieback and manage the replacement planting.
On a daily basis you will complete in-depth and detailed assessments, inspections and investigations to identify appropriate assets and the risk they pose, collect data on tree conditions, and make appropriate management decisions.
You will be required to liaise with tenants, members of the public, staff from other departments and local parish councils via email, phone or site visit regarding any tree concerns.
It is essential that you ensure that the Council meets it obligations in law and provides an environment that is safe. Responsible for advising on the implications of ash dieback to tree stock under the Occupiers Liability Act and negotiating and making decisions with private land owners, other agencies and their representatives in order to minimise risk to Council Land, with due consideration for conservation and ecology, and aiming to enhance the environment.
You may also be required to assist the other tree officers with the day to day running of NFDC’s Corporate tree service.
What is required
A full Clean UK driving licence is required and access to a vehicle. Knowledge of the local area is desirable.
A basic DBS and pre-employment health check is a requirement for this post.
